IELTS Listening Section 2: Monologue on a Social Topic
IELTS Listening Section 2 monologue practice — museum tours, community events, and public information speeches with tips.
Overview
Section 2 features a single speaker talking about a social or community topic — a guided museum tour, a public information broadcast, a welcome speech at a community event, or a facilities description. Unlike Section 1, there is no dialogue, so you must track one speaker's information flow. Questions often include multiple choice, matching, and labelling.

Expert Tips
In Section 2, questions tend to follow the order of the audio — use this to track your position.
Matching tasks often involve a map or plan — study it carefully before the audio starts.
For multiple choice, eliminate clearly wrong answers first to improve your guessing odds.
Speakers in Section 2 often use signpost language: "Moving on to...", "I'd now like to tell you about...".
If you miss an answer, move on — it's better to catch the next answer than to miss it trying to recover.
